Woodland Place home is ‘cut above the rest’ says Ripon couple
Steve and Teresa Swindells began the search for a new home after their current property became too time consuming and expensive to maintain.
“We lived in our previous property in Harrogate for 28 years”, said Steve, a retired Air Force anaesthetist. “It was a large home, ideal for raising a family but after our children grew up and moved out, the house became a burden to maintain and our energy bills were more than we wanted to pay.”
During their property search, Steve took a keen interest in the new homes being built at Kebbell Homes’ Woodlands Place, in Ripon.
“I saw the new homes being constructed and was instantly impressed at the craftsmanship and the quality homes being built, right in front of my eyes.”
In June 2016, Steve and Teresa got the keys to a brand new, four bedroom home at Woodland Place and haven’t looked back.
“The fantastic thing about this development is the care and attention taken to create a beautiful setting for the homes. There’s plenty of trees and greenery around the homes, and bats and hedgehogs visit our garden. The natural surroundings give Woodland Place real character, something that can often lack in new build developments.”
Steve and Teresa have been pleasantly surprised at just how much money they have saved on gas and electricity bills since moving house, thanks to the quality insulation and underfloor heating within their new home.
Steve said, “I knew a new build would be more energy efficient than our previous property, but I am astounded at just how much our bills have been reduced. For retired couples like ourselves or those starting out on the property ladder, a new build is a sensible purchase as energy bills can be drastically less than in older properties.”
Originally from Ripon, Steve enjoys living in familiar surroundings. “I still know a lot of people in the area, so it has been easy to settle into our new life here,” said Steve. “The transport links are fantastic, particularly the bus service in to Harrogate. Within an hour I can be at Leeds Bradford airport and in a sunnier climate within 4 hours. Ripon is also close to the North York Moors, which my wife and I enjoy when we go walking. The location suits our lifestyle and we are extremely happy to be part of the community here.”
Kebbell Homes was on hand to guide Steve and Teresa through the whole moving process and the couple benefited from the hands on approach of Woodland Place’s site manager.
Steve said, “It is clear to see the site manager takes an enormous amount of pride in his work and went above and beyond to ensure that our new home was perfect for us. Even after we moved in, Kebbell Homes ensured that any problems were immediately fixed. Moving house is an extremely stressful process but we were looked after by the team on site and felt that they really cared about the quality of the houses they were building.”
The move to Ripon has inspired Steve to take up a number of hobbies including flying model airplanes, bee keeping and growing his own vegetables in a newly secured allotment not far from their home at Woodlands Place.
Steve said, “Life at Woodlands Place is ideal for the life my wife and I want to live. Our home is just the right size for us to maintain, but still big enough for family and friends to visit, and the location means that we can continue to pursue our hobbies and interests.
“I wasn’t aware of Kebbell Homes before we started our property search, but it is a name we won’t forget. Great customer service and homes that are a cut above the rest, we are extremely happy with our new home and look forward to enjoying our retirement here.”
And there is now only one property available at Woodland Place; No 3 is an exceptionally spacious 4 bedroom show home which comes with floor coverings, light fittings and lovely landscaped gardens. Make tracks for Woodland Place as soon as you can before this last property is snapped up!
